The Northlake Public Library District recently received a $1400 grant from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) – Chicago Section to build a collection of circulating science kits.
The twelve circulating kits, called Science to Go Kits, will include books, DVDs, and other interactive materials, which explore engineering, electricity, robotics, earth science, and math. The kits should be in circulation in late summer, and the entire collection will be showcased at the library’s second Family Science Expo in early November.
Thanks to IEEE funding, Northlake’s Science to Go Kits will support STEM instruction for teachers and provide opportunities for children and families to both deepen their understanding and explore new science concepts at home.
