Join the Northwest Subsection to learn about Ham Radio and its place in the time of Cell phones and the Internet.  Learn about the impact Ham Radio has had on modern communications and how you can get licensed to operate on the “Ham Bands”.

Because Ham Radio is such an important part of emergency communications, Northwest Subsection will be running a Ham Radio Technician Class during January and February.  This class is designed to prepare attendees to pass the technician class license.  This class is being run in conjunction with the Hamfesters Radio Club, one of the oldest Amateur Radio Clubs in the area.  It has boasted people like Lee De Forest and Marv Camras in its membership as well as numerous current IEEE members.

Starting with a discussion of what Ham radio is and is not on January 6, the class will begin in earnest on January 13 as the instructors set the stage for the coming classes.  This class is designed for not only members, but their spouses and children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc.

There is no cost for the class, but attendees may wish to obtain the text indicated on the resource page. https://www.hamfesters.org/main/licensing-class/.  The resource page for the class is https://k9acm.net/tech-course/
