Purpose of this AssignmentTo increase your IEEE Section’s involvement in SKPL activities through volunteerism and fundraising; and to increase the number of Grants given to libraries located within the Section.

 

Benefits to the Volunteer:  An opportunity to network and to develop contacts with IEEE members and others in our profession. The personal satisfaction of knowing that your work will encourage more children to become interested in STEM-based careers in your local area.

 

What the Volunteer will be doing:  Working with your IEEE Section leadership, your Section members, and the SKPL committee; the Section Engagement Coordinator will work to increase Section involvement in the SKPL program. Tools to use will include:

 

  • Phone calls, emails, and texts
  • Spreadsheets
  • Shared files on Google Drive
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • IEEE eNotice communication
  • A limited amount of in-person communication

 

Is this a temporary or a permanent position?   Permanent (up to two 3-year terms).

 

How much time will this Assignment take: The candidate can expect to spend 1 to 2 hours per week.

 

Skills required or that may need to be developed:  Managerial, written communication, oral presentation, and computer skills.

 

Need for Travel: Attendance at some in-person Section meetings is desirable.

 

Supervision and Support: The direct supervisor for this position is the Engagement Chair, currently Bill Wilkens.  Support is available from the entire SKPL committee.
