SUMMARY:Fueling Generation Demand: Developing the Infrastructure for New Power Production
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: \nLoad growth is booming\, and with that comes the increased need for power production infrastructure to support it.  But what about the infrastructure that supports the current wave of new generation\, particularly in the gas market?  While there’s a heavy focus on increasing power production to support datacenters and other emergent load demand\, the infrastructure to support new generation is an equally critical piece of the formula.  And in order to secure their ability to produce power\, many utilities are proactively investing in their gas supply infrastructure. \n  \nThis presentation takes a closer look at some critical electrical system design considerations for development of gas supply to new generation facilities\, particularly design of critical long-lead components in an increasingly time-sensitive industry. \n  \nBio: \nRyan Easterling has worked on a diverse portfolio of power generation projects during his career\, including reciprocating internal combustion engine (RICE) generation facilities\, simple- and combined-cycle gas turbine projects\, coal/steam plant upgrades\, and fossil power plant retirements.  Most recently\, Ryan has been supporting design and construction of liquefied natural gas (LNG) peak shaving facilities.  He currently serves as the Electrical Department Manager for Burns & McDonnell’s Power Division in the Great Lakes Region. \n  \nRyan holds a Bachelors of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (’12) with a certificate in Power Systems and is a long-time member of both IEEE PES and IEEE IAS. \n  \nIn-Person Registration Deadline: \nMonday\, 6 April\, 5 pm Central \n  \nBurns & McDonnell\nSuite 2700 (27th floor)\nChicago\, IL 60606

SUMMARY:Severe Weather Spotter Training
DESCRIPTION:Severe Weather Season is upon us and we have already experienced four later winter tornadoes.  Learn how to recognize weather conditions that could turn deadly and how to report that information to the National Weather Service properly so that warnings can be issued.  This training satisfies the requirements for SkyWarn certification.  Even if you have no desire to become a SkyWarn weather spotter\, knowing when that nasty looking cloud approaching requires you to move quickly to shelter.  Not all areas have audible tornado alarms and you may be in a coverage gap\, so knowing what precautions to take can save your life. \nAfter completing the course\, you may optionally register to receive a SkyWarn Certificate and credentials. \nThere is no cost for either the course or the registration.  Your safety is our payment. \nSouthbridge Community Church \nOrland Park\, IL 60462
