The IEEE-Chicago Section Awards Committee is seeking nominations for the 2022 Awards by September15, 2022. The Annual Awards & Recognition event honors members who have made valuable contributions to the IEEE-Chicago Section. It also honors organizations who have supported IEEE Chicago in a sustained manner. To be eligible for the award, individual members must be an IEEE Chicago Section (or subsection) member or student member during 2022. Our Awards Committee would like to solicit your participation in nominating candidates for the following awards:

  1. Outstanding Section Member Award
    The “Outstanding Section Member” award is designed to recognize a member of the Chicago Section who through their professional and technical abilities has made outstanding and noteworthy contributions to the Section, their communities, and the electrical engineering profession. The award is not designed to recognize a single achievement, but rather collective contributions complemented by singular works exemplifying IEEE objectives.
  2. Certificate of Appreciation.
    The “Certificate of Appreciation” award is designed to recognize one or more members of the Chicago Section who have given their time or provided some noteworthy contributions to the Section. The award is designed to recognize a single achievement/contribution.
  3. Life-Time Service Award
    The “Life-Time Service” award is designed to recognize a member of the Chicago Section who has demonstrated a rare level of dedication and achievement through their long-time service and noteworthy contributions to the section, their communities, and the electrical engineering profession.
  4. Distinguished Officer Award
    The “Distinguished Officer Service” award is designed to recognize an officer (chair, vice chair, treasurer, or secretary) of the Chicago Section (including officers of the section, society chapters, and affinity groups) who has executed the responsibilities of the position in a manner beyond normal expectations.
  5. Distinguished Senior Research and Development Award
    The “Distinguished Senior Research and Development” award is designed to recognize an IEEE Member or Senior Member with more than 10 years experience who has made significant progress in research and development. The candidate must have published at least one IEEE journal paper and participated in at least one IEEE symposium or conference.
  6. Distinguished Junior Research and Development Award
    The “Distinguished Junior Research and Development” award is designed to recognize an IEEE Student Member or Member with less than 10 years experience who has made significant progress in research and development. The candidate must have published at least one IEEE journal paper and participated in at least one IEEE symposium or conference.
  7. Outstanding Young Engineer Award
    The “Outstanding Young Engineer” award is designed to recognize a member of Chicago Section who has made noteworthy contributions to the engineering profession. The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering awarded within past decade.
  8. Friends of the IEEE Chicago Section
    The “Friends of the IEEE Chicago Section” award is designed to recognize a business or organization that has provided noteworthy contributions to the section. The award is not designed to recognize a single act, but rather consistent contributions.
    Distinguished Mentoring Award
    The “Distinguished Mentoring” award is designed to recognize a member of the Chicago Section who has provided noteworthy mentoring to an IEEE student branch in the section.
  9. Outstanding Student Branch Award
    The “Outstanding Student Branch” award is designed to recognize a Chicago Section Student Branch who has most successfully promoted IEEE values in the past year.
  10. Outstanding Student Branch Advisor Award
    The “Outstanding Student Branch Advisor” award is designed to recognize a student branch advisor for a Chicago Section Student Branch who has executed the responsibilities of the position in a manner beyond normal expectations.
