It is with great sadness that a great colleague of ours Darryl Palmer, Chair from the IEEE Central Illinois Section and proud supporter of events here in the IEEE Chicago Section, IEEE Central Illinois Section and IEEE Region 4, has suddenly passed away this week.
Darryl was an enthusiastic, passionate and energetic IEEE volunteer who championed supporting school-aged kids and introducing them to technology and engineering. In addition to being Region 4 Government Relations Chair and Central Illinois Section Education Chair, Darryl was a major force behind several Student Branches in Central Illinois. He was also active outside Region 4 with the IEEE Industry Relations Committee.
IEEE Chicago Section will remember Darryl who was instrumental in having Matt Cousins from ARM to come give a talk and demo to students on ARM chips and development at the recent IEEE Region 4 Nexus Student Leadership Conference in Chicago this past April. Darryl was the one who suggested that we have dinner with Matt Cousins from ARM at Manny’s Deli in Chicago.
Darryl will be truly missed and we pray for his family. IEEE Chicago Section will be honoring Darryl by making a contribution to the IEEE Foundation Tribute Giving Page with the donation to the IEEE TryEngineering Fund in memory of Darryl.
