Title: Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces for Sensing and Communications
Speaker: Zahra Esmaeilbeig
Summary: Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS), also known as Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS), is an emerging technological frontier in enabling smart wireless environments. The potential of RIS in enhancing the performance of radar systems is unraveled in this talk. In particular, the optimal placement of IRS platforms and the design of the optimal characteristics of IRS platforms for target detection and estimation will be discussed.
Bio: Zahra Esmaeilbeig obtained her Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Shiraz University and Sharif University of Technology, respectively. She is currently pursuing her PhD in signal processing at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Illinois Chicago. She recently received the Distinguished Junior R&D Award in recognition of her research on Radar Signal Processing from the IEEE Chicago Section.
