Every day more-and-more machines and sensors are being interconnected and networked for the purpose of gathering data and optimizing performance of the systems these devices serve.

Machine-to-machine (M2M) connected devices are rapidly growing beyond their personal and local area networks and are being connected to the Internet. Once given an IP address and connected to the “Cloud”, networks or devices and can monitored and analyzed to improve operations, deliver new services, or provide helpful insight about the human interactions with these systems.

Certainly the common wired connections such as Ethernet, CAN, or USB are an important foundation in M2M networking and communications. However it’s the radio frequency transceivers, whose wireless links are cutting out the cords in the network, that are devices creating the seemingly limitless opportunities for a connected world.

Steve’s presentation provided an overview on the roll of modular wireless RF transmitters in M2M and IoT applications. Steve covered the design features which constitute “modular” wireless transmitters and outline the regulatory steps manufacturers and technology enablers need to follow to use modular transmitters in their devices for as global market.
